Citizenship in Sitka Tribe of Alaska is granted to direct lineal descendants of citizens on the official roll of 1991, or the Tribe’s original Base Roll of 1938.
Any person who is a citizen of, or who is eligible for enrollment in another Native American Tribe, who sets up a permanent home in the vicinity of Sitka, who establishes social or cultural relations with the Tribe, and who agrees to be bound by STA’s constitution, may apply for STA citizenship upon relinquishment of citizenship from another Tribe. A Certificate of Indian Blood may be required.
Citizens may relinquish enrollment in Sitka Tribe of Alaska by submitting a request in writing.
Enrolled citizens are issued Tribal identification cards, which establish eligibility for STA programs and can also be used as official government identification at federal buildings, airports, and banks.
